No, it is unfair to those who have no cars to park.

All we would be doing is paying the parking for the people who work downtown.

Let's do the math. My annual taxes are $2,600 so 1% of that would be an another $26/year. Not a large chunk of cash but considering I don't shop on Main Street during the week(usually because there is no parking) then I would have to say no. I'll pay $2-3 dollars a year to park thank you.

No way, too often it's people who work downtown who take up all the metered parking anyway.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! What happenned to the 'user pay' theory adopted by council?
If indeed this were to occur, the city cites $100,000+ in lost revenue. I assume the two city meter attendants would lose their jobs and balance out the pecuniary scales.

Let me see,my taxes go up so every "tourist" can park for nothing.I dont think so!

I don't think it really matters with the mill shuting down and now Trust Joist in trouble everyone is moving to Alberta. There won't be anyone here to park anyway. Maybe you can charge the tumble weeds.

No way. I probably spend a whole $2.00 a year for parking. There is enough free parking around and the walk would do a lot of people out there good. We don't get value for our taxes now, why increase them.

Free parking downtown will create no parking for the most part as then no one would move their vehicle. I don't shop downtown already as never any parking. Thank goodness for direct deposit and ATM as you can't even get to your bank.
