Sticking to the question in regards to last week's snowfall, I think they did GREAT! In fact, my lane was plowed before I woke up. These crews are only able to do what management enables them to, so any beefs should be directed to those in charge, not the employees who work very hard for little thanks.

I agree you can't blame the workers, it's the budget, or lack thereof. The roundabout was a joke - all that new snow, no plowing, no sanding. Why don't we just close up the place and everyone stay home for the winter? Main street is ridiculous with the snowbanks and I refuse to go anywhere near the place. I was one of the ones stuck at the A & W intersection AND I HAVE SNOW TIRES in case you're wondering. If you slide into another vehicle, keep in mind that in insurance lingo you are at fault - weather and road conditions are not considered as a factor. I wonder how many fender benders could have been avoided if proper winter maintenance of our roads took place?

There are more important issues in the world, but why can't the snow plows have a side arm on them so the driver is able to stop snow from going on everyone driveways? Even cities like Vancouver and Victoria have them.

When police call for sanders the city informs them no sanding till mornin'. City should have night crews during winter hours prob(ably) prevent accidents even more so less traffic easy plowing.

Everyone complains about everything! But, I guess we have a right, if you don't complain, it will never change. The worst part is not sanding the roads, accidents are going to happen, get those sandtrucks out for the safety of everyone. Also it took quite awhile to plow the sidewalks in areas. My poor grandmother could barely get through to get to her home. Another problem is MAIN STREET. They need to make more places for people to get through to the businesses. Jumping over big piles of snow to do some shopping isn't what I had in mind, not to mention UNSAFE!

With the closure of Hwy. 17A, there were vehicles stuck everywhere in town and the roads supervisor refused to send out any snow clearing equipment. Just ask any KPS working that day! Trucks stuck at A&W intersection because someone installed lights on a hill, McClellan and Main because someone made intersections too tight and at the roundabout because someone thought it looked pretty... not practical for Trans Canada Highway. We are lucky that no serious emergency calls happened as fire and ambulance would not of made it to your house.

I don't know if it was the city that was bad or the people who park on the streets when they have driveways or maybe the thoughtless people who shovel their driveways on to the streets and sidewalks maklng it worse

You can't blame the City Workers for the lack of snow removal or the length of time it takes to plow the roads. The City Management keeps cutting labourer positions which makes it extremely difficult to maintain the same levels of service. I know people will say there goes another one backing the poor City workers but that is the reality of the situation.
