Yes, there is a burnout. Don't expect any help from the young generation. As far as the ski hill, shut it down and maybe some of the younger people will get the message and that goes for all other sports etc. shut them down and see the crying.

As Zoomer stated, most volunteers are baby boomers. The new generation is too busy on their phones, computers, playing video games and watching television. They believe everything should be available to them. Most people who volunteer do it for things they believe in, not just anything.

The huge demographic - The Baby Boomers are aging and retiring and with them goes that strong work ethic and community responsibility that was driven into them by their parents who struggled through the war, depression and self reliance. We're left with a society that feels entitled to benefits without the sweat equity, born on low interest rates, borrowed money and injustice felt through social media.

Kudos to all those who give freely of their time to volounteer. Sadly this week we saw the end of an era, with the closing forever of the Keewatin Legion. For over 90 years the branch existed through the hard work and dedication of volounteers. With the loss of the branch, goes all the money that was donated to various charities in town. Burn out is a huge factor in the loss of people. When one group fails to exist, it is rare for those people to continue on.

Yes there is. I would really like to see more Indigenous volunteers step up for kids sports and recreation, that will surely help the kids in the area. Please, step up, help all the kids, be there.

Hats off to all us people who still find the time to volunteer, same faces at the same events and the same dedication, bravo to all of us. Maybe some fresh faces could put the cell phone down for a few hours each month and keep the volunteer spirit alive. It gets tougher every year. If there is no monetary compensation some people figure it's not worth their time. Try it. You may like it!
