Voting for Harper because he has an economics degree is as ridiculous as Walmart hiring one of its associates for finance officer.

Who are you going to vote for? Trudeau is clueless; the NDP are only for more welfare and raising taxes (remember Bob Rae, need I say more); and people complain that Harper put all his apples in one basket with our natural resources. Well remember, Ontario used to be a manufacturing province until the Liberals came to power and destroyed it completely.

Canada was heading into a deficit before the recession kicked in. Harper brought us into the largest deficit ever. The U.S. economy is currently doing much better than ours. Harper has given more tax cuts this year that benefits only a few. We will have a bigger deficit this year. I could go on, Conservatives have such a poor record.

P.M. Harper is not stupid man. His education was in economics and that is what Canada needs right now and the foreseeable future. He does have some expertise on the matter and so far I think he has done an excellent job in keeping Canadians from hitting the bottom as the U.S. experienced. While the oil has presently hit a new low in price he keeps on trying to get the pipeline down to Texas so that our economy will continue to grow. The price of oil will go back up. His stance on keeping Canada safe from terrorists and gearing up for more jobs is good. I only hope he does more for our vets and the fact he got rid of Julian Fantino and replaced him with a service man hopefully bodes well for vets.
On the other hand, Justin Trudeau has no worldly experience, continually opens his mouth and inserts foot, does not know what he is talking about most times. A pretty face but no substance. Charisma does not keep the country safe and economically viable. Remember how daddy, Pierre, broke the country by the time he left office. He had charisma and intelligence but he was a back room communist and did all kinds of strange things behind the scenes. At least Pierre was methodical in his thinking but Justin shoots from the hip and never thinks first. By the way, the provincial government, not federal is the one responsible for upgrading the West Highway.

Let's have an early spring election and keep the Conservatives in. Stay with the Law and Order Agenda - we need more and bigger jails. Let's lobby for one in Kenora. Let's push for the Energy East pipeline to go through - it's obviously in our national interest. Let's use our own oil from our own country. Double-laning the west highway is a must - for safety reason, it's in the public interest. It overrides silly local politics and politicians. The Ring of Fire will be developed when metal markets need them. Maybe there is too much social welfare. Why would anyone work when they don't have to or drop out to the fall back plan of going back to their community and on welfare. We should be encouraging more forestry - it's the greenest industry, forests are regrown, it's like trapping. Manage natural resources using the best science and in a regulated way and we all can continue to enjoy the benefits. Let's encourage everyone to be more connected and not so isolated. Isolation makes for radicalization. Closed, isolated societies are repressive.

What pk said is true. Bobby Nault said one thing but did another. He proved to be a party line holding, self indulging ladder climber that did not communicate well. He failed to recognize our area and our different challenges even though he grew up here. He (as a minister) destroyed the relationship with the First Nations people and the federal government with his "forceful" and "subjective" approach and is largely responsible for the conflict relationship we now seem to have. Maybe he thinks we all will have forgotten these things?

Conservatives look like cowards delaying the spring budget.

If Mr. Nault is nominated remember how he stuck up for his constituents during the gun registry fiasco.

Bill C-16 requires that each general election take place on the 3rd Monday in October in the 4th calender year after the previous poll. This Bill was introduced by the Conservatives and passed by the 39th Parliament. At the time Harper justified the Bill by saying that "fixed election dates prevent governments from calling snap elections for short-term political advantage. They level the playing field for all parties and the rules are clear for everybody." Your question is irrelevant or are you suggesting the PM break his word?

Bring it on anytime. The one-trick pony of a national economy is unraveling, and the local economy can best be described as farcical. The sooner Rickford and the Conservatives are tossed the better. The natives are fed up, the seniors are fed up and the youth see no future. Now I see Bob Nault will likely be running for the Liberals. No more voting Conservative for this chick, Liberals all the way!
