I think the OPP did a wonderful job keeping people and traffic far away from the blockade. You couldn't see what was going on, therefore there was no publicilty to be had.

it just goes to show how racist kenora really is just reading all these comments. it's sad to know that more people couldn't be more campassionate to our mother earth. How would towns people act if there precious Lake of the Woods was all contaminated with mecury and Kenora had no tourist attraction, I bet everyone would run and ruin another part of our earth just to feel better of themselves.

I support Grassy Narrows but I disagree with the use of radical groups. They are going to make things worse rather then better. In addition, the government should try to do something before it gets out of hand. This has been on far too long.

I think it was definately handled well.. the closing of the highway down defused what could have been a very explosive matter.

I think the police made the right decision to just by pass the traffic and not make an issue of arresting people.. that would have just given them the media attention they wanted and added fuel to the fire. now that they know they will not get the media attention they have gone away and hopefully will allow Grassy and the government to sort it out without trying to stir the pot

Contrary to the publisher's, Jim Blight, that "Free speech is no excuse for civil disobedience," this country was formed out of civil disobedience. Free speech should be upheld by the police instead of trying to stifle it. Thank goodness that someone is standing up to big industry to preserve what can never be replaced.

As a tourist who was stopped and then rerouted through Kenora as a result of this blockade, I must say my family and I are appalled that the blockade was not torn down and all of the offenders jailed and charged.
These "environmentalists" do not have the right to block a public highway. If they are so anti logging, what do they wipe with in the washroom?

Its been my understanding that if you break the law in this country you pay for it.Now I think if you break the law you are provided with body gaurds(OPP).
