We have to attract a major employer but not necessary in the woodlands industry. Ever fly over this area? Looks like a moonscape with all the clear cutting. A boat manufacturer, a car assembly plant, modular home construction, anything which will provide employment for our workers. on a smaller scale, how about water slides and a thyme park for summer tourism. Kenora is a DESTINATION, I think not at this time.

Kenora would be perfect as a college town. In the winter, there are plenty of empty establishments for the students to frequent, and in the summer, they can get jobs. Same with accommondations. The mill site would be perfect.

Someone should do some promotion fast. The city is dying! We have lost tradesmen to Alberta and our kids have no reason to return to Kenora to live and work once they have completed post secondary schooling.

This seems like a rhetorical question. Communities survive only with renewal of economic activity. Failure to do so results in ghost towns. Therefore, it behooves everyone to pitch in to generate and support initiatives to attract and maintain new economic activity in smaller cities such as Kenora.

You need to add some sort of major employer with a long term business plan. There are enough small businesses now that try to capture a share of the shrinking local economy.
First though get rid of the "old boys club" mentality and open kenora up for business.

We need a large employer to come here with a long term commitment. There is nothing here to keep our children here, once they have finished school.
Smaller businesses are fine but we dont need any more coffee shops, dollar stores or bars.
