As a non smoker I find the smell of smoke offensive and bothersome but.... where do you draw the line at infringing on the rights of the individual and their personal property. Big Brother is not welcome in my home and private property.

Yes. It's a no brainer. I wonder why the parents bother to restrain their child in car seats then proceed to smoke. Duh!

Just asking; If smoking in vehicles with children inside is banned, will it be up to the police to enforce said ban? And, if so,does this mean that the OPP and Kenora Police will have to re-tender their bids in order to better protect our children? Ministry of Vehicular Smoking. Sounds like the birth of another redundant "dogger" white-collar post to me. Isn't it amazing how one person's biased spark can create a city's inferno?

Ban all forms of dangerous chemicals that pollute the lands, air, waters and people.... Alcohol, Illicit Drugs, Acid Rain, CFC's, Carbon Monoxide, Tobacco products and any other toxic chemical which threatens the health and well being of the earth..... Why do it just a little bit at a time, we are only suffering ourselves and allowing it to slowly kill every living thing on this earth?

We teach our kids not to ride with drunk drivers. Why not teach them to stay out of vehicles where someone is smoking. Since a lot of teens (children) have decided that smoking is cool, where do you draw the line.
I wonder though is this topic another case of NWHU looking for something to take on, so as to ask for more staff, ergo money?

Smoke in vehicles should only be used for cerimonial purposes.

Definitely think this should be banned. Not only should it be banned but anyone caught doing it should be charged with child abuse. When you put your children in the car do you make sure they are in the back seat?... buckled up?... in a car seat or booster seat?... of course you do because it's safe right... so why would you light up and blow poison at them? We live in Kenora people it doesn't take an hour in rush hour traffic to go anywhere... you really can't wait until you are all out of the car to smoke? It's just plain ignorant and disrespectful. Smarten up and quit thinking about yourselves. Make it your New Years resolution!

Yes, as it should it be banned. As at any enterance to any building the public has to walk through to enter, there is no safe level for second hand smoke and it is about time people accept the fact and stop killing our children and others that have to deal with it.

Who in their right mind would want to smoke in a vehicle with their child(ren) as passengers? It is sick to think that a parent would actually do that to their own child, definately there should be action taken to stop it, for the well-being of the children. If a parent needs a smoke that bad...pull over and take it outside!

Sure why not, but why stop there? What about in homes? There is probably a greater exposure there than in an auto. Smokers just don't get it. With all the information out there why do they do it. Better yet, take a drive by Beaver Brae at lunch hour. You can see the future asmatics and lung cancer victims outside smoking.
