Barb Manson is truly a visionary. The City needs more people like her. Thank you Barb. To walk through the cemetery on Christmas Eve is awesome and heartwarming.

A Christmas candle is a lovely thing;
It makes no noise at all,
But softly gives itself away.

It is so calming and inspirational to walk through the cemetary on Christmas Eve. The sound of families singing carols, laughing together, praying and yes, even crying, brings out a true feeling of Christmas. To those readers who have never experienced this event, I suggest you take your family for a stroll. You will be moved!

I will be away this Christmas Eve but every year since it started we drove to the cemetery to witness the growth of this event. It truly warms the heart.

If someone asked me what love 'looked like', I would encourage them to visit the cemetery on Christmas Eve and see for themselves!! It's indescribable and palpable. Barb Manson was instrumental in the institution of the event and Kenora owes her a great deal of gratitude. She has allowed hearts to cradle peace where sleeping angels lay. What a beautiful gift!!!!!

I no longer live in Kenora however I always ensure that there is an ice candle on the grave sites of my relatives. This year my Father's site will go with only a candle as the memorial stone was destroyed with the recent vandalism. Let's all hope that the candles don't get the same treatment!

The Ice candles at the cemetary are such an awe inspiring event. A lot of people in the warmer parts of Canada don't comprehend it. I send pictures out and always get back such positive comments. I place a candle for one family member and for an old school friend who died far too young. if you have never taken this event in, I suggest you do. it is an eye opening, heart warming and emotional experience. Merry Christmas to all!
