Wow a year already and nothing really accomplished. No new industry, anxiety over policing, underfunded libraries, more surveys and consultants reports, a downtown renewal that is a joke. Keep up the (!) work, your term is almost half over. |

I have strong disagreement over the closing of the Keewatin Library even though I understand that cutting things that don't bring revenue might be fiscally responsible. But I still have a hard time understanding from a truly objective standpoint, why there seems to be so much opposition to the current council (gauged from prior comments and "THE WORD ON THE STREET") as they seem to be doing what they can with the resources afforded to them. My biggest beef would be the issue of transparency which so many members of council (and the mayor) based their platforms on. This hasn't happened in my view. Other than that I have no major beef, again trying to be completely objective and having researched the issues that concern me most.
One thing that DOES bother me is the helpless feeling of being railroaded into accepting policies whether I like it or not. The process MUST be democratic and whether right or wrong, the status quo MUST prevail.
Other than that I stand behind our council and only hope that they can appreciate the voices of the masses when they put to word of law how "we" really feel. |
