I think the US should be ashamed of how it has handled this entire deal. Despite several NAFTA rulings to the contrary the US continues to seek a better deal for themselves. Unfortunately the biggest kid on the block is calling the shots. I think we have to take the best deal we can get for the next two years or we will face many years of similar delays.

Definetly, Canada won the case and we are due all of the money that the US held as duty.
To make things worse, there is a "weasel clause" that allows either side to opt out of the current agreement after 13 months.
With the US election race starting you can bet anything that the timber producing states and their powerful lobbyists will have us back in court again.
This argument is as old as "free trade", we have won evry court battle.

Yes they should. The Americans were found to be wrong at least three different times during this dispute. Now they are being paid about a billion dollars for this.
The scary part is, either party can opt out after 13 months. With the US elections not far off, the timber producing states and their lobbiests will have this dispute started all over again.
This has been ongoing for a decade and in every court Canada has been proven to be correct.
