T-bay tel already extends quite far to the east and is simply extending it's influence in a westward direction. KMTS needs only provide competitive rates and the best service and they have nothing to worry about. Would all this be a concern if Rogers/AT & T or Unitel were coming? Competition is just the name of the game. Nobody should have a right to a monopoly.

Too much competition is not a good thing. Some are saying service will be better and quicker if TBTel comes, please let's do a service call six hours away, how quick is that? Maybe have two tech's in town, we won't need (get) more than that, wait let's have them in Dryden so they are more central to all the other communities. And KMTS being a "cash cow" for Kenora, good, at least it is an income for the city to stand on, with it gone, it makes sense about taxes going up to keep some cash flow coming in, do you really think a Thunder Bay company is going to give us hand outs. Expanding a 'business' means needing to make a profit, so regardless on how they are in the books "non-profit" means less business taxes for them, which equals more money for the ones running the business.... union or non-union people really have too wake up to this 'real-world' pick the devil we know, because everybody is out for a buck.

Yes, I strongly object. Never will they infringe on us. We remain loyal to KMTS and the low rates (telephone and Internet), plus great support and service whenever we call. They ARE Kenora.

Stay with KMTS people. If we all start flocking to T-Bay Tel a number of things will likely happen including lost jobs, a further out migration of people and ultimately higher taxes just to maintain present levels of service or perhaps even less. KMTS in my opinion is top notch. Let's support our local utility by staying with them. Let's keep the money in Kenora, and let us rebuild this beautiful city.

KMTS is a cash cow for the city and the service is good. Let's let T-Bay Tel in and let $2.1 million go to Thunder in revenue, then add in the Abitibi loss and possibly Trus Joist and the sawmill. When are you whiners and anti union people going to wake up? The subject is the survival of the town. Let's raise your taxes to make up the shortfall. Brilliant!

KMTS has been talking for years about the upcoming competition. Well, here it is! What have they done about it?
If another carrier can come into the Kenora market and provide us with good service, competitive pricing and products then so be it.
KMTS has long been Kenora's "cash cow", the free ride is over. Maybe with some competition, its employees will perform at a faster rate, be a little more customer friendly and do the job they are so highly paid for.

TBay Tel is not a for profit corp like Bell or Telus. They are a public sector organization with a mandate to provide low cost telephone service to the City of Thunder Bay, and shouldn't be competing with our KMTS or with the for profit corporations outside of Thunder Bay. The City should boycott Thunder Bay and have them voted out of NOMA.

If Thunder Bay Tel comes to town and the city loses the $2.8 million the Telephone Department puts back into the City. And the City has to raise taxes to cover the the lost income from the Telephone Department. Will everyone want more competition then? I think not.

"KMTS and its employees have felt like they were some sort of supreme entity for decades!
Yes they are a cash cow for the city, but, maybe now we the consumers will get a better deal with competition. At least, KMTS will have to give up its monopoly on us citizens and get competitive real quick."

I'm sure KMTS union will fight TBay Tel tooth and nail but the sooner we get competition the better. It's about time local unionists wake up and realize the gravy train is over and competition is the name of the game in the real world.
