Leave the deer alone. They were here long before Kenora came to be. Other places such as Banff co-exist with wildlife and there is no reason Kenora can't do the same. The deer are a natural attraction and we surely need something to bring tourists into this dying town.

Fining people for feeding deer won't help the situation. The deer came to town without anyone enticing them here. They arrived and found lovely flowers and vegetable gardens. That's what brings them, not the odd person who feeds them. I know it's frustrating to gardeners to have deer eat everything but fining people for feeding them isn't going to stop the deer from eating flowers. Maybe if we hadn't destroyed so much of their habitat they wouldn't have had to come into town.

I am in favor of seeing that fine happen, but who is gonna be watching all the feeders in town and whose gonna hand out the tickets?
And as for your comment Richard, if you want the deer to leave you need to make then scared of human presence and if hunting them within town limits will do it then so be it,.

It wasnt that many years ago I was hounded by some to give $20.00 to feed the poor deer, and I did. I got a great bumper sticker in the bargain (I still have it in a drawer). My opinion is and it is only my opinion, if people in our city would just slow down to the posted speed limits we would have fewer crashes with the deer population. We sell our city as a tourist destination with great fishing and wildlife everywhere. I don't feed the deer but I don't care if Joe Blow does or not. I live here with all of the rest of you and have not come close to hitting one. I know they are all over the place and I look for them while I am driving in town or on any road in our area. HAPPY TRAILS.

It should include feeding the crows and ravens and seagulls too!

The deer situation is out of control. They need an incentive to move away from town. The deer often cross roads to get to feeders and cause problems with vehicle traffic. It may not completely solve the problem but hopefully will result in fewer incidents with residents.

There should also be a fine for feeding geese! They need to fly south when food gets scarce.

People have to realize that feeding the deer is not helping anybody, including the deer

I do not support a $500 fine - it should be much much higher. Most of those who would recklessly hunt within town limits are not going to be concerned with a $500 fine knowing the chances of getting caught are very slim. Increase the fine. There are 10 zillion deer within a hour of Kenora, do we really need to hunt within town limits? Rednecks will be rednecks, and a $500 fine to a redneck is worth the thrill.
