Many people seem concerned about parting with money at this time. However your time is just as valuable an asset to many organizations such as service groups and sports teams. You can also give generously of your blood. Canadian Blood Services is always looking for new donors. One donation of blood could save up to three lives. How easy is that?

I was quite charitable at one time. However over the years with rising costs, being on a fixed income and money not going to do the work of particular charities, I pretty much only donate to local charities. When you look at how much of your donation goes to "Administration", and you see the salaries the heads of charities get, it gets quite discouraging.

Being charitable has nothing to do with money. Charity is the virtue of the heart, not the hands. It is the ability to recognize the need, not the cause. Help someone who can't return the favour. Charity may begin at home, but it doesn't have to stay there.

I don't mind donating to local charities or organizations. If the money is used locally and they actually come to my door to collect I will donate. I am fed up with telemarketers phoning constantly claiming to represent every ailment known to mankind, looking for donations.

I go one on one in the streets at times & give food not money to the apparent needy in downtown Kenora I wish others would do this as well if some of ya do (MY HATS OFF TO YA :))

I would like to be more charitable but with the rising price of fuel, food, an unstable local economy and investments which haven't done a thing within the last few years, it's becoming much harder to part with my money.

We usually give to our favourite charities but what do we do with the thousands of "return labels" we get? These people must think we send 100 letters a day. We do not give to charities who telemarket since as we all know, are very annoying.

Charity today begins at home!

These days there are so many people calling you on the phone and knocking on your door to get money that it hard to keep a charitable mindset.
