How about tougher sentences for offences? You know the old saying..."you do the crime, you serve the time."

The funding for the services to help people will eventually run out, the tax base is getting smaller and the needs are getting greater. The "service hub" cost $1.1 million. Staffing for services is in a shortage, because people are afraid.

Let's clear one thing up right away, drug addiction is a choice not an illness or disease its a choice. There is a difference also of being homeless or being a drug addict, you chose your path when it came to drugs. Being homeless because of job loss or another legit situation is tragic and unacceptable in today's world. Drug addiction is a choice because you could not say no.

The Health Unit and Kenora District Services Board are protecting their own interests and budgets. They are not giving the City of Kenora the real answers to the situation. They sugar coat everything to benefit them. I am disgusted how the Kenora District Services Board can dictate so much. It would be nice for the City of Kenora to step up to plate and do what is best for this city! Love Kenora but not loving the politics and BS that goes on in this town! Clean it up and make it safe again!

The only way to fix this problem is to shut down all these free places and make the problem go back to where they came from. Some one is getting big bucks to make sure this problem stays in Kenora and these people know this is a way to cast the responsibilities on Kenora taxpayers.

Why close the service hub ? Does it need to be fully renovated for the re-grand opening in six weeks. It must be difficult to get staffing. I would be deathly afraid to work there. I think you need about 6 or 10 'bar' bouncers.

The 'service hub' is going to close; the city services tried to help, but I guess the users didn't appreciate the facility. There was garbage everywhere and people laying around on the streets. So I guess that space wasn't good enough, they did not show any respect for the time and effort that was put into the project that was provided to them for free. Shameful!

The KDSB wants to build a "Supportive Housing" project on Ninth Street North, and a "Group Home" in the North End area. All this will do, is move the downtown issue into family neighbourhoods, which in turn will increase crime, thief, break-ins etc. There are not enough employees at the service organizations, like Mental Health, Addiction etc. to handle the volume of service that would be required to run these, so called, 'transitional housing' facilities. I do not believe that people will move in, get the help they need and then move into society.

I don't think that opening a youth 'hub' on Main Street Kenora will help much if you cannot find service providers for the 'hub' that is being closed. I'm not sure what the phrase 'aging out of care' means ? I graduated from grade 12 when I was 18, got a job and found an apartment with a friend in order to afford/share the rent. But in the mean time, I had 2 people (my parents) that brought me into this world, and where responsible for my needs. Stop having unwanted children. We have tried to help in the past but it usually turns into an apology from the government, so why should we continue this circle that does not work. I chose not to have children because I knew that I could not provide financially for their needs. So maybe some questions need to asked, instead of just give, give, give.

Most of if not all the problems are from drug use. The solution is hand out a never ending supply of needles.
