l agree with pc and jd... we have a council that spends more every year than it brings in. 1.3 % is just a stepping stone. It's time the city quits hiring people. l can not remember a week gone by with out at least one job opening. We have 4 times the amount of city employees compared to other town's our size and 5 times the amount of police compared to other towns wonder why we have a tax raise every year?

I guess all these years of overspending on nonessential projects have caught up to us. Why is it that the solution to all problems is to raise taxes? How about curbing spending so that there would be money for necessities like infrastructure. Is it not council's responsibility to make sure our tax dollars are spent wisely? So because they haven't been doing their job, taxpayers are expected to dig deeper in their pockets to bail them out? Perhaps we should hire a consultant to find a solution to council's overspending. Now that would be money well spent!

One can only wish that a 1.3 per cent annual increase is all you'll see - mark my word, 1.3 will look good compared to what's in store

Have to pay if you want good water and sewer. It's not magic.

I am sick and tired of being treated like a cash cow by the city. Enough already. The province and feds make all kinds of promises (lies) to aid communities, yet in the end very little ever gets accomplished. The city comes up with ideas we can't afford, yet keeps picking our pockets. You should be ashamed!!

With all the taxes on water we will not be able to drink the necessities of life we need or wash or clean our clothes it is funny how taxes are always on something that is essential to everyday life then they wonder why there is so many homeless and more and more crime. This council has done nothing but taxed us to death and we will never recover when will they realize this town is going to go nowhere.

I think all levels of government collect more than enough tax. It's time they tightened their belts like most Canadians have had to. They just have to stop spending like it's a never ending supply and spend wiser.

Absolutely not this town council needs to be removed. Enough is enough!

City could save money by stop hiring consultants that say increase taxes instead of finding ways to save money and lower taxes

Who came up with the idea and how much are we paying him. With this 1.3 per cent added to the annual rip off for sewer and water, it is getting expensive to live here.In a "city" our size, the residential tax payer (Cash Cow) should not be paying a higher portion of the taxes than the commercial tax payer. Might as well twin the ice at the Rec Center and sink us even deeper.
