With the Feds and the Province making up the lions share of the cost of a new terminal, it only makes sense for the City to step up where they need to. The current terminal is below current standards and renovation is not an option.
A new terminal that incorporates the Canada Customs and Revenue Service is needed. It allows for the safe and efficient flow of freight and passengers.
Without a terminal that is up to or beyond current standards, we could lose airline service,as well as Customs clearance for flights arriving from the US.
Every time an aircraft lands or takes off, over nights or parks for a long period, the airport makes money. No income, no airport as we know it.
Nice to see the town use our tax dollars for something that will actually see financial results.

If you build it they will come!

The town benefits from the traffic generated at the airport. The rules of operation are set by Transport Canada. If your terminal, or any other part of the airport falls below the standards, you have to upgrade. No upgrade, then no commercial traffic!
