Isn,t it funny every time you get a government project the estimates are always low balled when it comes to costs but then l guess once the horse is out it's hard to close the gate meaning once a contract it let it's pretty had to stop it all you can do is suck up the extra costs.

All okay with me as long as the new terminal that is built is NOT like the monstrosity that was just built in Red Lake a few years ago. Customs in the same building is good even though customs service for Kenora has been reduced to summer only. May to Oct.

The Airport is extremely vital to our Community. We have 10 to 15 Air Ambulance Flights per day. The airport brings in thousands of tourists every summer to spend money in the city. It is a must that the City help the airport grow and expand it's services and to make our Airport a safe and valuable tool for the people of Kenora.

I am amazed that many members of council have no clue what goes on at the airport and the positive economic impacts it has.

Last year the head of the airport authority claimed the airport expansion would cost $6 million. The federal government was giving $2.1 million, the province $2.1 million, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund $450,000, airport reserves another $600,000 and the rest would be covered by the private sector. Five months later those costs have ballooned to $8 million. Doesn't the mayor and council owe an explanation before committing $1.5 million of taxpayer money or is the mayor going to continue blaming tax increases on provincial downloading and MPAC?

The only way the city is going to get more airlines interested in flying into Kenora is to upgrade the terminal....now is the time to do it!

We lost bus service and train passenger service we NEED the airport for medical flights, for flights to the northern communities and for commercial and tourist traffic. The legal teams fly North from Kenora daily. We need to support our community. The Airport needs the help!

99% of the people that fly here spend money in Kenora be it cab or car rental to go to town to eat in our restaurants or stay at our hotels / lodges and shop in our stores .
