Sounds interesting. Let's see where it goes. A lot of things are talked about but sometimes nothing comes from it.

The idea that a family could not live comfortably in one of these homes is ridiculous. My home is under 1000 sq ft and I live there happily with my three children who are between 10 and 18. This is an awesome idea for housing and the fact that it's off the grid makes it even better. Wake up Kenora, not everyone needs to live in a giant house to be happy. Get outside and enjoy this incredible space we call home.

Having these houses sold only to locals? That doesn't sound legal, it would also cause lots of damage to the local economy.

Maybe it is a good thing it is being developed outside of Kenora. The new business being developed at Cameron Bay is costing the taxpayers of Kenora $360,000, along with other financial assistance from senior governments, to install their main line sewer and water system to their business and the saw mill. It seems every large business who wants to start up in the Kenora area goes begging to council for a hand out from the taxpayers.

PK - this development is outside the city boundary. No city taxes to be collected there. I see this as another development outside the city limits that has no contributing taxes to our coffers but all of the amenities for their use. Good deal for them and bad deal for the taxpayers that will continue to support the city's infrastructure.

This proposed tiny home development is just that a proposal. The recent media attention to the lack of affordable housing and the homelessness problem in Kenora has presented the developer an opportunity to unveil this plan. The funding for this project, grants will have to come from all levels of government it won't come from the developer. The people who live here will be saving so much money that they could take in an evening at the hotel casino on the old mill site.

Big house, Tiny house. They all require income to pay for upkeep and taxes. Until a employer with decent paying wages moves into Kenora, both size of houses will be unaffordable to some. (Even though Kenora has some of the lowest house prices in the country.)

They should only be sold to locals. The housing in this town is ridiculous, with all of the out-of-towners buying up the real estate. Keep it local, and maybe this will work.

I think it is a very good idea. It might be hard to get used to living in a confined space but should be reasonable for a couple. I like the idea of the location and the plan for living off the grid, you won't be held for ransom by hydro and the city taxes shouldn't be as high, bonus.

Excellent idea for newly wed working couples or single professionals so they don't have to stay in places like Minto or buying the many old houses advertised by local realtors. Can't picture single parents with children living in a tiny home.
