Although I have lived here all my life, if I were raising a family today, I would probably move. After post secondary education, there is little or nothing to come back to, not now and probably not in the future. To get good jobs, our kids will need to look elsewhere. The education system is "run of the mill" generic, there is little to do as far as cultural events. The streets are like the north end of Winnipeg and our city council still spends like we have a mill. What will our kids inherit if they stay here, a city in debt, and urban reservation, small town attitudes and an even bleaker future for their kids. |

I've lived in several towns and a few cities and I have found Kenora to be a great place to raise my family. We have outstanding athleticism, great music programs, cultural events from pow wows to theatre. You can go to one of five beaches within a fifteen minute drive by car and add in a few more by boat. Fishing, hunting, watersports, an excellent soccer field, great ski programs, snowmobiling, hockey, karate, badminton, volleyball, and the list goes on. Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. But if it was we would have nothing to strive for. If your unhappy, find a way to change it. I think Kenora is great! |
