Don't we have enough alcoholism?

Absolutely 100% yes. People who miss the liquor store "regular hours" go to after hours black market resellers. They will get it either way. So get some of the smaller stores involved and really support these local businesses rather than the local black market resellers who are making double profit on a case of beer!

Well I don't believe Kenora has its abundance of worst of the worst. I'm a 'Toban & Kenora is tame compared to the peg but booze sales has its place keep it there.

Absolutely... Let's give the monopoly a little run for their money... who knows, you might even save a buck or two, get a hello when you enter and a smile when you leave. If you're worried about public drunkedness, under age drinking and all the negative aspects liquor bestows upon society, I'm confident the private owned stores will do just as good a job as the government run stores are doing now in helping rid these problems.

Seeing how easy it is for kids to buy cigarettes from corner stores, I don't see the point. Hotel beer vendors OK. They are already selling alcohol.
Remember a LCBO employee has ZERO incentive to sell to a minor and could lose their job. Some 18-year-old working minimum wage has very little to lose and could be pressured by friends to sell. The store owner makes a profit if he sells. Just because the U.S. does it, doesn't make it a good idea.

Is kenora not supposed to promote tourism? Why not sell only beer in local small stores? The liqour laws of Ontario are so antiquated and strict as compared to the US. Why not allow off sales? It seems to work in Manitoba. I disagree with the sale of hard stuff at small stores.

I will have to say yes to this one, lets move with the time folks, lots of neg.coments about the riff raff that will hover around these stores. Lets do something about that! Do we not have police in Kenora?

Absolutely not! Your quiet "Mom&Pop" corner stores will invariably become inundated with nothing but the worst of the worst that Kenora seems to have an abundance of. Ever try to stop a drugged up shoplifter? Wouldn't be prudent. Not gonna do it. Moreover, if private enterprise takes over liquor sales, how long do you think it will take before greed takes hold and prices start to inch their way up just like gasoline in Kenora?? I think we're better off with strict Govt. controlled regulations.

I gotta vote No. I've seen it raise violent crime in USA. Too much random ready cash for the real violent criminals.
