Instead of handing out needles, these users need to be encouraged to get treatment, this situation is an illness and should be taken seriously. There was a fantastic program on CBC, The Passionate Eye about addiction, it showed how a small city pulled itself out of this problem and helped it's homeless to move forward and become responsible citizens in the community. The doctors on the program also spoke of alternative medications, not more needles, that help the patients get off the addicted drug. |
