The tax dollars can only go so far, I, like most people have lived and worked in Kenora all my life. But I think the city looks worse than it did when I was younger, the downtown is filthy. Our tax base is so small.

Being an area with a lower population of people paying into the tax base, I think we get our fair share. There are not a lot of high paying jobs in Northwestern Ontario, and many people don't even work. The government probably takes that into consideration when deciding on where the tax money should be spent.

Seems like we lag behind the east but you have to take into account as to how much industry we have here.

I don't believe that Ford has been out of Toronto and has no idea what is needed in Northwestern Ontario. The people who pay taxes do not benefit much, we don't care about 'buck-a-beer,' we care about health care, jobs, environment, education cost, roads and everyone paying their fair share to support these expenses. We have never been treated fairly by any government, it's terrible, service cuts, high gas prices, poor infrastructure, health care issues and crime. Kenora is definately not 'open for business.'

Curious as to what the residents of Kenora were expecting?
