With the major investment just spent on the operating suites etc., not a lot will happen for a long time.
Even if it is built, it will not bring better diagnostics or professionals with it. It will be a smaller more precise version of what we have now.

A new hospital will cost over $100 million. Where's that money going to come from? We can't even twin a highway around here for public safety. All the pipelines and every mine, forestry and other development project has to be built first. There is no social improvement without economic development. Bang that through your head.

I think we are going to see austerity measures in place. The Liberals have buried us in too much debt. It will take at least 10 years of careful spending to get Ontario away from the brink of disaster. We are the highest debt owing non-state jurisdiction in the world.

First off, the province decides when and where new hospitals are built. They are not built on the whim of any politician.
Last election and already prior to the next election Kenora MP Bob Nault was talking about a hospital. In reality the feds only kick in around 25% of the cost. Sioux Lookout was different because the feds closed the Federal Zone Hospital.
Kenora could use a new hospital. Having worked in healthcare, I know that the planning process is long, distorted and subject to change instantly.
