Council is completely missing the point here. If more folks use public transport, less money is needed for roads in the long term. Where does Council get the idea that money is not needed for the transit system? Buy a proper bus, an electric one that was beyond the budget previously. Spend some of the funds on an advertising blitz - there have been recent improvements to local transit but most people don't seem to know that public transport is even an option here. Perhaps use the funds to pay a fleet manager that actually knows what they're doing to run the system and keep the buses clean & maintained. Use it to get the snow removed from in front of the bus stops/shelters in the winter. Spend it in a way that eliminates the need for Handi-Transit to hold bake sales in order to keep running. Also, what happened to the money that was allocated to add an accessibility system for the sight & hearing impaired? Did that get reallocated somewhere? This is a great opportunity for something that tends to get pushed down the priority list. The dinosaurs that complain about the roads every week will persist no matter what you do, but, if you invest in public transit, the more forward-thinking among us will thank you.

Why is there no funds for roads in the city budget? What was that money used for? Maybe take the $400 k from policing for the transit upgrade. Why ask the tax payers? Council spends what they want, where they want.

Yes, I support council in their decision. Roads must be priority. What would be the payoff in plowing scarce resources into public transit?

Our roads need major repairs and this would be a good step toward repairing them. I do have to guestion spending on a roundabout to ease traffic to the mall most of the problem comes from the fact the Beer Store and liquor store only have one road in and out. The post office end of the parking lot could be serviced off the new adjoining road at a huge savings.

What was the roads budget used for? Where did that money go? Why are they robbing Peter to pay Paul.?

Funds should be used for their intended use. Who uses transit? Low income families and seniors. Look what happened with Greyhound, how do people get to Winnipeg for doctor appointments? It doesn't matter what the tax payers express, council will continue to spend funding foolishly.

Since we don't really have a public transportation system it makes sense to spend the money on roads, as we do have to drive to get around.

The town needs to use whatever funds there are to fix the streets. It is sad that you have to brake and swerve to avoid pot holes and poorly repaired pavement breaks from last year.

We all pretty much know we will not get help we have to stop spending money on stuff that can wait for, including councilor raises, or round-a-bouts.

This is just another Liberal bribe to try and get your votes. How many people will fall for this come October?
