whats new?  ( January 4, 2007)
Took a walk down Main St. today, and I haven't seen all these new businesses opening up. Oh well maybe next year.

I came back to Kenora after leaving Alberta about 5 years ago. Things may not be perfect, but guaranteed that there are other issues elsewhere, it is time to stop running, and face these challenges head on! Kenora needs to continue concentrating on building a strong community! For those already defeated, give up if you like, the rest of us shall stay to fight for our city.

Negative attitudes of the people in this town have clouded the vision of Kenora. Yes, the mill has closed, but we live in an area of the world rich in natural resources and opportunity. The town has been making a lot of positive change lately, look at 'Making Kenora Home'. Those that sit at home every night thinking about how terrible of a town Kenora is need to wake up and make some change instead of constantly complaining.

Kenora is one of the most beautiful and affordable places to live in North America. With global warming, even our cold winters are not so cold. Go to Alberta and work for $30 an hour and if you can afford that $400,000 1,100 sq. ft bungalow, you can take a 50 year mortgage to pay it off. Of course in 20 years when the oil runs out, that bungalow will only be worth $200,000.

Kenora is owned by rich Winnipegers, and Americans and there is nothing here for the average person. Where are all these businesses opening on Main St.? Kenora is a dying town, get out as soon as you can.

I think we have too many TJG's here. Parents should let the kids make good choices and carve out a path for themselves in life. Too many people here were born here and have never been elsewhere, it's not always greener. Life nor business owe us anything, so people can make things happen for themselves or continue blaming others for their woes. We have lots of the latter here in town as we all know.

It is time for everyone to sit back and look at our fair city. Does anyone think it is fair to our youth to expect them to stay in Kenora. There is no chance of getting a job that will pay them enough to afford to live here. I'm sure it will hurt small business to not have the large pool of minimum wage employees,we are turning into the next Maritimes. Go west young man go west!

Yes it will be better. And after all of the negatives have left it will be even better. What is wrong with Kenora being a place for the newlyweds, happy retired, summer time fishing folks and visitors ?

I think parents should let children know it is time to leave this dead end part of the province. Working at dead end no money jobs will get you nothing.
