We have bigger things to worry about. Kenora has come to a stop. Poor paying part time jobs are not going to do much for anyone! Spending all the tax bucks to attract pork and beaners from Manitoba don't pay the bills.

What about bringing in new industry and companies to the community to offset the obviously dieing forestry industry. Also, there needs to be more to help small business in Kenora to survive, not just the downtown core.

It's very important that we have elected people who are prepared to do what's best for the City. A big issue for me is the support of the people to keep KMTS under City control. The monies generated from this business pay for the improvement's we make in the City. For the City to speculate that somewhere down the road KMTS won't generate money is only guessing. Why not invest some of the money the company has generated to improve it rather then sell it.

Economic development is the main issue. Unfortunately, people like Canfield, Compton and Parkes think megaprojects like the public works yard are economic development, instead of waste.

Enough spending. Fix the infrastructures only. (If they really do need fixing) 25 million of todays dollars = 40 million plus by the time it is completed. The citizens of Kenora should be able to vote on this issue (plebiscite).

The downtown revitalization is a pipe dream we can't afford. What I am looking for when making my vote is honesty, no hidden agendas, a personal commitment from the candidate that they will represent the voters, not business and someone who will look into tax relief for charitable groups such as the Legions, before we lose them!

With all the "winners" that are running, my priority is picking enough councillors with a collective desire to run the city.

I think it is such a "hot topic" because it involves money. Taxpayers want monies spent wisely and spending dollars on revitalizing downtown is ludicrous, especially at a time when everyone is moving away due to lack of jobs. That should be the main focus.

I believe the downtown revitalization to be very important. If we want to increase tourism we will need to improve traffic flow and parking. What is not noted here is that funding from the Provincial and Federal governments will very likely be available for a large portion of the project.

I like to pay attention to "HOW" people will accomplish things, vs paying attention to the "THINGS" they want to accomplish. The "HOW" people tend to be doers, and the "THINGS" people tend to be dreamers. Thus, for me, the major issue is distinguishing the DOERS from the DREAMERS. Most of the comments I've heard so far are about "THINGS", and not the "HOW"... I'm worried some of the newcomers haven't a clue how to accomplish some of their goals....
