Reading through the post I get a sense of bitterness or displeasure from many of those who have responded.

When I look solely at the position that a Mayor has, his many responsibilities and duties I believe Kenora would benefit greatly from having a mayor in our employ. To me that doesn?t mean that the Mayor simply does what he does now and draws a salary. I would expect that there would be a whole guidelines and expectations put out by the tax payers as well as those in city management and committee?s and round tables.

With Kenora in this time of great transition we should have some one working on our behalf with other levels of government and locally full time. Whether or not it is our current Mayor is for the voters to decide

Elected Federal Members of Parliament, and Provincial Members of the Provincial Parliament get paid a full time salary plus expenses. I would venture to say that a mayor of a town or small city makes more decisions and probably does more work than our Federal or Provincials members. Why not put the mayor on the payroll?

Unfortunatly YA get what Ya pay for :(

Political Office & Elections are a Discrace, where else could a Person be responsible for so many others & thier money & we must vote to PICK one ???

In any Private Corporation if the Applicants are not wanted or qualified you ask for more applications.

Our Financial Reserves should start to be used to promote recreation & keep people in Kenora Now !!! not spent on running the City after they all leave.

What backwards thinking is that

People should stop looking at the person in the position, but the position itself - then make your decision. This city requires a full-time Mayor/CEO.Let's wake up and start thinking progressively.

Why should a positon that, by tradition is an honorary one, be compensated by the tax payers of this middle-sized community? I feel that the Mayor would be more credible if he only accepts an honoraium from the City and not a salary. He is the Leader and needs to set an example for his loyal citizens whom vote for him to be a role model for all employees of Kenora. I say he should ask himself what is more important to him as a leader? An unhappy mother-in-law or an angry wife? The mayor has to set an image befitting of a true and honest city official.

Absolutely not, I believe the mayor is compensated quite nicely for his time.

He is away travelling all of the time at our expense. Why would you want to pay for someone who does not put their full time in?

Kenora is not big enough for a full time mayor position. Just because he is unemployed don't add more expences to the tax payers.

If we continue to have a part-time mayor, you can be rest assured that we will continue to have part-time results in the progress of our "city".

This is the second time this has been polled. Is it because the mayor lost his job at the mill that makes you think his position as mayor should be full time at the taxpayers expense? I think not!
