RCMP would be the best

The OPP have far higher standards than the KPS for the highing of officers and training. KPS want to get paid the same as the OPP, so why not just go with the OPP?

The K.P.S has run its course. The city has far to many on staff for the numbers that are working. Police services forcing the tax payers to pay one to sit at home for two years!" NO" bang for our buck.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Its clear to me that someone is fixing the vote. Guess in this case perhaps friends of the Kenora OPP are just as honest as the K.P.S.

A new and improved KPS would serve us best. However to police the area now covered within the city by the OPP, would take probably 8 new constables, and 3 cars. With the OPP pulling their communications center and the jobs that go with it out of Kenora, we are not bound to keep them as a policing agency.

KPS and the OPP do not have the same training. The OPP get more training at the OPP academy after completing training at the Ontario Police College. The OPP is now responsible for conducting some of KPS's training. KPS has also used the OPP in major investigations simply due to the drain on resources accompanies these tasks. It may cost more to have the OPP police us but if KPS were to add these special sections to their force the cost would go up as well.

I'm sure both are good options, but there's history there that cannot be erased or forgotten. I think the OPP is the best step forward for Kenora.

We need both services to keep the vast area covered. Actually, a better use of the Treaty 3 Police in the community, would free up a lot of KPS time

The KPS should be the police service of choice. They are governed by a Police Services Board, not the Province of Ontario. Are paid less than OPP, have the same powers of arrest as the OPP, trained the same as the OPP, therefore the City is getting good service for it's dollar. The City will have no control over OPP in Contract Policing and the cost per capita will increase. I believe it would be cheaper to have only one force, the KPS. Some members of the OPP are not as squeaky clean as you may believe. So much for reputation.
