Since the residential tax payer (cash cows) pay more of the taxes than Industry or Commercial taxpayers, more work should be done in the residential areas. Yes, Park and Railway need work.
I am embarrassed when I take visitors from out of town for a tour. Streets are crap, vacant lots where business should be, street people in ever increasing numbers, garbage blowing all over. We don't need a traffic circle. It will still create a choke point by the old fire hall exiting on to 2nd. St. With no major industry or investor daring to come here, Kenora is in a bad situation. Remember also, Trus Joist was built with a 20 year life span. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

The rest of this city has regular people contributing to tax base who also deserve to have their streets and sewers repaired. The lake that forms after a rainfall at the end of Scramble Ave. on 9th St. needs to be fixed permanently as well as the deep heaves in the road on Houghton Rd. and the top of the hill on 9th street and how about that stretch of street along by the Pepsi Plant? Perhaps a run with a grader down the roads in the rural areas should be a priority as those taxpayers are also having to pay ridiculous residential taxes as well. Then we have the pathetic roundabout issues. Europe has them but their traffic patterns are very different from here. The cities here appear to be using them but the ones I have seen and used in the city of Winnipeg are located in residential areas not main drags such as the one in Kenora. What about the extra cost there will be to blast bed rock out in order for this new round about to be installed. Suck it up tax payers cause in my opinion I not only see a bad moon arising I also see another bad tax increase on the horizon!

I can't help but laugh at the weekly naysayers - so afraid of change. Yes, I support investing in our community.

Does anyone know how many stages of downtown redevelopment are planned?

The do-nothing-but-complainers responding to this survey should visit the boarded-up downtowns in other NWO communities. They who would love to have the cash-flow of our retailers. PS: Yes, we need more efficient traffic through Kenora.

How are you going to get to this new round about when the streets are too rough to get there? How about some money being spent on some residential streets and not the downtown? Every focus is on downtown, how about a rotation of projects, one summer residential, one summer downtown ?
Round and Round we go  ( May 12, 2019)
I do not agree with the second round about. I am no expert, but I think all it will do is create a back log of traffic to the main round about. Is there a computer simulation where we can see how this traffic flow is suppose to work?

I think the money should be used to fix our streets. For shopping we go to Safeway, Canadian Tire and Walmart. Free parking and no one asks for money. Kenora Shoppers Mall and Second Street need to be cleaned up, the roads and the area!

While I believe the sewer and water definitely needs replacing I do not believe the addition of a new road and roundabout will help with the mall traffic The entrance from the post office needs to be maintained year round and if anything an extra turning lane by the beer store and liquor store there are better road problems to spend the extra money on l think

I feel sorry for the business owners in that area that try really hard to keep things going. One of the best restaurants in Kenora is on First Street, but the view while having dinner is disgustng. They even tried to have an outdoor patio but it was impossible at that location, too much loitering, asking for money and drug deals going on. Where are the police? We increase that funding every year, but there are more and more break ins and drug deals then ever before?
