Sort of off topic, but, still in the ballpark: George Carlin,(commedian) once sang a parody of America The Beautiful; "Oh beautiful foresaken skies, insecticided grain.Your strip-mined mountains majesty along the asphalt plains. America, America, man sheds his waste on thee. And hides the pines with billboard signs, from sea to oily sea!" Seems we're not too far behind our 'Marican' neighbors.

Straight up, I need my truck for work purposes only. Who else? Everyone in town. Therefore,me and all the blue collar sector are guilty of polluting. Really... what's that in the grand scheme when Big Buisness perpetually bombards us with acid rain, sulphur dioxide, and gaseous chemicals with names too long to pronounce correctly? When factories invent an auto with ZERO emissions, and super stacks are banned, possibly, I may even start to do my part. At least then, I can see if maybe I'm making a small difference.

I agree with David. Politicians and environmentalists are certainly talking about global warming a lot, but if you listen to the true scientists they're saying that it's part of the natural ebb and flow of the variance within the earth's temperatures. Still, we can all do more to control our impact, but I do not believe we are the cause of global warming.

All you need to do to gauge the commitment of local people is look around. With Christmas lights blazing 24 hours a day and people whacking down trees in the bush for the sake of Xmas, there isn?t a lot of support out there.

Actually the way the question is worded I should have clicked "no", but I understand the gist. I do not believe we have to "sacrifice" to end greenhouse gas so much as change the way we do things... and we'll end up living much more satisfying lives. The green economy will provide jobs and economic growth like we haven't seen for decades. We must stop ?waging war? on nature and live in harmony with her because she will win in the end and shake us humans off like fleas. To those ?non-believers'... even if we stop all damaging greenhouse gas levels at this point in time... we will still be experiencing the climate of Nebraska here in Kenora within 40 years. So we are already at the point where we will be forced to adapt, however, this is too short a time for plants, trees, animals to evolve with the change of climate coming.

Once you get behind all the hype and look at fact, there is proof that global warming is a natural cycle. Written records from the mid 1800s reference the arctic warming. A lot of the statistics we use today are flawed as they were based on Russian records. However during the Soviet ers, the colder the temp, the more funding the northern cities got. Ergo!!, flawe stats.
Add to that, the USGs evidence, that the earths core is cooling, and we are actually headed towards another ice age. But since the governments, lobby groups and big money agencies have everyone brain washed, we are letting a few people get real rich on our paranoia.

David... is your real name George W. Bush!?
I think it is really sad that people are naive enough to argue that there is "no proof".
Even if there is no actual proof, there is enough reason to change our current lifestyle. There are more reasons to change our lifestyle than just greenhouse gas reduction.

I think it is so sad to see that there were so many that were not willing to make standard of living sacrifices to decrease greenhouse gasses. I guess they do not care that maybe their children or grandchildren will suffer the consequences!! Please think people of what your actions now will do for others later. It makes a difference.

There is still no actual proof that green house gases are the major culprit in global warming. While they may play a small role, the natural cycles of climate and temperatures, is the driver behind climate change.

I'm not too worried. I think economics and nature will take its course. When we run out of fossil fuels in the next 30 years, and have mass deaths from new diseases and flooding, the earth will come back into balance. Nature selection on who on earth survives will take place. Eventually new species will emerge (in) a couple million years but what the heck is that in the grand scheme of things.
