I doubt if these vehicles would work very well in "No mans land" I find it amusing that people who want these, see them as energy neutral devices. Where does the power come from, how is it generated and who pays for it? Just another case of "climate change bullying"!

I would rather pay gas companies as opposed to Ont Hydro. At least they try to be efficient.

Electric vehicles are only good for the warmer climates and the cost to replace the batteries is astronomical. The cost of hydro also plays a part in the operation of this vehicle. Do we know all of the pros and cons yet? Another dream that is only good for a portion of this country. News has it that those that can afford to buy one of these vehicles in Ontario can get a rebate of $5,000. These vehicles are not cheap and if you can afford to buy one in the first place, taxpayers should not be helping you out with the cost.

The government should put money into something that will benefit everyone. What about all the vehicles we have that need gas? Is the government going to provide everyone in Canada with a new electric car? Good idea but with electric vehicles there are environmental wastes involved as well-batteries, nuclear power? Better really think hard about this one!

If there is an absolute need for this transportation mode, then leave it for private enterprise to produce it. Government involvement is NOT the answer to all our woes. It ends up in higher costs and usually the companies who benefit from this involvement keep coming back for more money.

I can not see evs as practical transportation. I think they would be almost useless in winter in Kenora and I can't imagine going on long trips where you have to charge them for 30 minutes every 200 k. A family will need two vehicles, one for around town and one for long trips.

We already see what the cost of electricity is. This is not something we need for the government to spur this would be another way for them to tax you more until it becomes afforable in the colder areas of the country it is a waste of money

Any government in this country that says it's behind this is lying. They can,t afford having vehicles that don't run on gas, because of the tax loss. Secondly how far do you think an electric car will go when it's 30 below? Maybe 10 miles if your lucky... how much more pollution would be produced to make more hydro? Did this being factored in when these dreamers come up with these ideas?

Governments should work towards getting people off of the devastating affects of social welfare and the generational consequences.
