We look like a juvenile hockey team that can't get along. How do you think potential investors perceive our city when they read this poll? Unreal! Get over it all of you anti- Compton, negative energy mongerers!
Let this council do what they feel in their heart is best for our community and our children's future. Otherwise, call this poll the council bashing forum.

Come on people, look at the big picture, the less plastic used, the less oil used to make the bags, the lower the price of gas.

The bags aren't the culprit, the people who toss them everywhere but in the garbage are. Is this another council smoke screen. Get us to concentrate on one issue while they continue to destroy what is left of Kenora. I think all of the councillors should look up the meaning of the word "accountability", as they will be held accountable for their questionable actions while in this office.

I like to be green but for some reason because it's Coun. Dave McCann touting this I'm against the ban. Seems to me he's trying to make us forget his role in the policing fiasco by touting a trendy ecological issue. Wouldn't it be simpler to get grocery stores to provide bags that will disintegrate. Surely someone has invented a bag like that.

Never fails that even the most simple question can be turned into a venting session against the council. Taking the white plastic bags out of circulation will not cause major issues in my life, and is one of many small steps we need to take eventually anyway. Just do it.

It's hard for me to believe Councilor McCann sees plastic bags "everywhere". All I see is an uninviting and absolutely unnecessary mess by the subway and unattended potholes on many of the core streets.

I disagree. Let's not ban plastic bags. I use them for garbage bags - I'd have to go out to a side roads and throw them out the car like other waste - like Pepsi cans, KFC and disposable diapers. What we should be more concerned about is disposing of are compostable things that can be used to make soil that can be used to grow some excellent food we can eat. Just be responsible for our own actions and put things where they should go.

Aren't there much more important issues in this city than garbage bags?
Wally  ( June 16, 2008)
Save six bags one for each councillor then throw them all in garbage dump and think of something else to complain about.

I think there is more important things to worry about in Kenora. Funny how our Council members have enough time to worry about plastic bags, when they can't even answer e-mails that are addressed to them. Maybe they should focus on fixing the mistakes that they made, and correct them before they start something else.
