That will always be a polarizing issue and we have bigger battles to fight today than the long gun registry. I would like to think that one day that will be the most important issue we need to address, but in my opinion it's way down the list today, so scrap it and spend the money elsewhere.

While I was in support of the gun control registry, it has been a ridiculously huge waste of money. Restricted firearms need to be controlled but my father's single shot 22caliber with the stock held together with electrical tape hardly qualifies as a threat to national security. And if it was stolen and used in a crime how exactly would the registry help?

It is about time. This piece of legislation ended up costing 100 times what it was supposed to. To make things worse, it made criminals of honest people and allowed real criminals to still be able to aquire firearms. The sentences built into the firearms legislation have never been imposed where they could be. Leave us honest owners and users alone and go after the gangs and irresposible owners.
