I agree with the purposed changes to the trout fishing for Clearwater Bay. Get a grip everyone, we all know how fragile this fishery is. Remember years ago when people ice fished the crap out of this area. That led to the tag system. Look how the river is starting to get better every year with the changes instituted a few years ago – be a conservationist for a change.

I agree with the proposed change - I also applaud an earlier comment and agree that it is some of our better known local celebrity fisherman who are the main source of the problem here. One of them actually published an article on how to catch lake trout outside the protected areas. We have to be smarter with our resource. The very last people we should rely on for input are those who are the source of the abuse.

I giuded on Lake of the Woods for years, and don't ever remember taking more fish, or any some days. The greed of others and the stupidity of others have made the fish what they are today. Please don't paint all people from Ontario with the same brush.

No! Show me the information first. What is the health of the population, where is the information, how many fish are caught, what is the angling harvest, fishing pressure. Is there alot of small fish in the lake that aren't caught. Where is the science?

It is a good idea, maybe would stop the slaughter that goes on outside the currently protected areas. Sad thing is it is some of our local guides and fishin magicians who are the worst offenders. Remember though, once a restriction is in place, it is never removed. Good example is the Walleye ban in Shoal Lake.

I wouldnt give you a nickel for a truck load of those oily buggers. Some fish are more attractive to some big fishing lodges. You hear every year about how many over the limit they were caught with.

No, put a slot size on like they do for pickerel on the Winnipeg River. This should also apply to pickerel on the Lake of the Woods. Stop greedy people from taking out the small ones.

The current tag system works well for the trout within Clearwater, Echo, and Cul de Sac. However, these trout move outside these protected areas at times and more and more fisherman are finding out about this. We all likely know of folks who slay the lake trout just outside these protected areas at certain times of the year. Let's get back to to the intent of the original system and cut out the new loophole that so many are starting to exploit. Many will complain, but that's just Kenora being Kenora. Those who have the education and knowledge of how to protect this resource should just do so and stop asking the public (who don't know much at all) for their opinion.
