I think we are all somewhat more greener, recycling and trying to use less plastic bags. As to the mill, to more misinformed people the coal burning stopped 30 yrs. ago. Let the mill die and stop offering comments that most of you have no info about. Most of you never worked there.

The man who commented "look at the trees not being cut", I wonder where he's looking, because i see them on the pulp trucks all the time...

i have always TRIED to be 'green', but now its just a whole lot easier - shopkeepers don't think its strange for someone to bring their own bag or ask for take-out in something other than styrofoam - attitudes and options have changed for the better. Not far enough, but at least some people have started to consider the consequences of small things and how they make a difference.

Actually we all are. With not having a paper mill in town. Look at the trees not being cut, coal and hog fuel discharging CO2 into the air, no sulphur emmissions and none of the thousands of tons of water vapor discharged into the air. Let alone the end of effluent discharges into the river. Maybe there is something good that comes out of losing our mill.

I think that the majority of us are getting greener. Some do so for the environmental impact and some do so for the economical impact. I believe a lot of people that don't try to be more green are just lazy. There is so much education out there, on the radio, in the paper and on TV, and being greener is a much easier and less complicated way to live. People must remember to do these things at home, because this is the easiest way for kids to learn about the environment and it is a great way to help the world together as a family. If we try to teach kids at school and they go home and everything we try to show them is not reinforced at home, many times all of our efforts and hard work are lost. We only have one world, and it is up to all of us to do something to protect it!

Yes, around my eyes. I think its got to do with aging. Just kidding of course, or am I.

I worked with a single fellow who spent eight weeks filling up one large garbage bag. I admit I'm not that good. Shopping with reusable bags, eliminating water bottles, composting, recycling, and keeping kids lunches as litterless as possible. Like many others I am slowly getting better at this green thing.

Absolutely! I'm slowly retraining myself to take canvas/nylon bags grocery shopping, as I hate the plastic bags and think they should be done away with. I was also interested in hearing the new government program to pay $300.00 to take your old "beater" off the road. I believe a portion of the criteria is that the vehicle must be insured and 1995 or older. I also don't buy bottled water any longer and we are working toward changing all of our appliances to "energy smart".

Yes, because for the most part it has been forced on us!! However, take a walk around the back of both high schools and observe the disgusting accumulation of litter. Seems like our high priced educators aren't getting through.

I think I recycle a little more, I support the non-herbicide fertilizer approach, I don't buy bottled water, and I'm looking at a hybrid for my next vehicle. I could likely do a lot more, but I'm slowly getting there...
