Medicine and dentistry are the only two guarantees for the next generation. You can get a job anywhere, change countries if you want to, make a good living and choose your own destiny. Animal sciences is the third choice of course - people always need to eat, there will always be zoos, and people will always have pets. Anything else is not a guarantee.

I concur with 'DAD' on the question. When taxes soar out of proportion due to present-day mayor and councils' spending, it will be extremely, if not impossible, for young people to eke out an existence in Kenora and afford to live in this future retirement community.

Take the government job any day...you make a decent wage and can retire at an early age with a nice government backed pension...a pension in today's world is gold. With all that I can't understand why are so many government workers are so darn miserable...I'd trade you in a heart beat... you got it good.

I would advise my children to find a career in which they have a passion and an aptitude. Your trade or profession should be the goal . . . the institution where it is carried out is the second decision. Your question is more suited to punch clock morons and bureaucrats who have the ability to turn off their mind for their "shift" and for people who say they need ****loads of money to do their job because they hate it so much. Life is too short to hate your job.

Get a government job. You're coddled from the time you walk in the door until you retire. No worry about pay, benefits, being fired for being inept. Also no worry about using your brain to hard.

Get a GOVERNMENT job. In a large City. They'll give up the beauty of here, on a daily basis, and end up appreciating it more when they visit. It's true there's nothing for young people just starting out, here, and getting to be precious little for the middle-aged.

You forgot to put anywhere but here as 1 option for our children. There are no jobs and we are pointing towards retirement people so that only leaves service sector jobs which in turn will be low paying jobs or McJobs if you know what I mean.

Their own . I say that assuming they have what it takes. I've been in my own business for many years and I've enjoyed the fruits of my labor. However after saying that, I must say I loved what I did and that is the key to success, even if wealth is only moderate.

I am sorry to say that Kenora would be the last place I would want my children to seek employment. Low paying, go nowhere jobs. Not a good place to be if you're young and want a future.
