The "quotes" were never based on an "apples to apples" basis, anyway. I agree that the decision by Council was made on an ego, not common sense, good of the taxpayers, basis. As well, I agree, time to move on. Let's quit flogging a dead horse. The decisions made by this council will be reflected in the next election - if time doesn't cloud our memories. Let's hope THAT doesn't happen.

It is time to move on. However there should be a change to the by-laws.. Stating that in very important issues which will affect the every day lifestyle of all citizens of Kenora that we get a say in such matters and plebiscite is held.

Page 13 of the OCCPS decision states OCCPS job is "to ensure the community is not PUT AT RISK by any change to a policing arrangement and that provincial standards will be met". It seems the provincial standards were NOT MET and the community was indeed at risk! So what does this say for our 4 council members who did not heed these same concerns from their own public? Scary stuff. Can we trust they will ensure due and fair process at this point? Either abandon the process or re-tender!!

Looks like their low ball bid was caught by the commission if not council.

The OCCPS decision CONFIRMS that not only was the OPP proposal inadequate for this community but the expert consultant recommended inadequacy and four council members touted an inadequate proposal. This process has much more to do with ego than what is best for the people of Kenora, taxpayers or not.

Enough on the police decision already. Let's rally to save the Abitibi mill while we're at it. Move on folks!

Well considering the O.P.P. used 2003 support costs in their quote and said they would hold those prices for six months after their proposal (about 10 months ago), it must mean that they have actual current costs now.
Pretty hard to compare quotes with 20 per cent less officers than what was required and not only that, had costing that was five years old!
