We need to ensure that all community leaders in our area are doing all they can to ensure jobs, employment and income or we wont have services or benefits to support and maintain health professionals, maintain roads, air ambulance etc...let alone support stores that provide nessessary goods from grocery stores to pharmacies. I'm fearful that we will turn into the north end of Winnipeg at some point.

The way things are today money is hard to find. With my husband forced into early retirement with the mill closure and living on a reduced pension, gift's will be fewer. But Christmas is not about gift giving, it's about family and the real meaning of Christmas. When I was young we all got one gift and a christmas orange. I think we looked forward to the orange more than the gift.

Due to the downturn in the economy, here and globally, I can't see how anyone except the filthy rich could afford to not rein in their spending. I foresee a lot of homemade presents this year and I think that's an excellent idea. If I can't afford snow tires why, in God's name, would I be racking up a credit card to buy presents I can ill afford?
