It will be interesting to see just how many national competitions will be held here in the future or was this just a one-time thing to justify improvements to the rowing club? Yet another special interest group digging into taxpayer's pockets. Many local residents would love a sidewalk around Rabbit lake to be able to go for walks. Not only are there presently no sidewalks but there are sections where the gravel has worn away so badly that you're forced to walk on the road. From what I understand, when Jaffray-Melick existed, they had the plans and funds to go ahead with this project. Then amalgamation came and we all know where all the money went.

i have personally never been there so an upgrade is always good for any establishment it will help keeping anything going as far as hosting other events here i don't think so to many things would need improvement and we definitely do not have the funding

I thought it might be a great thing--however!! Today I was out for a walk and was banned from going down Birchwood Crescent because of some kind of bicycle race.
I don't believe these people would be using the new sidewalk!!
I never saw anything posted re this imposition and I do not appreciate being denied access to public property. IE the sidewalk!!

Even if it doesn't help for attracting other events it sure is nice for residents using Garrow park.
When ?  ( July 12, 2017)
When was it decided that Rabbit Lake was going to be a Rowing Lake? For that matter, what role does Rabbit Lake have in the community? (and who decided it?) There does not appear to be any HP motor enforcement on it at all. At one time it was just a small motor (6 HP or less) lake.

There is a lot of potential for national attraction. The lake is also long enough for Olympic style competition and training. The down side is, no doubt "someone" will have to be hired to promote it.
The upcoming games are going to bring in a lot of competitors, trainers ,coaches and fans. Ergo a lot of money to town. Thank Manitoba for choosing Rabbit Lake and partially funding the improvements.
