The parking lot will not alleviate anything the summer residents will always look around for the freebees ie; Lakeside streets, Keewatin streets, the old flour mill boat launch this issue has been around for years because someone is not doing their job and only make excuses when asked. Try this in Winnipeg and see where your truck ends up. What about the four special event trailers occupying four spots at the rec. center, no room at public works? What a joke the premier boating destination...really?

like every one else says it will not help the parking problem but then we have another white elephant like on the harbour front....can,t fix streets but can sure waste money on a losing cause...nice play city council you remind me of trudeau.....

WHY WAS LINES MADE IN A POT HOLE LOT AND THEN ASK PEOPLE TO PAY.IF YOU WANT PEOPLE TO PAY MAKE IT LOOK GOOD

Not really it will help in that area but not downtown. As far as the people in Lakeside always complaining it is like that everywhere in town; people dropping things off in big trucks double parked on Main Street all the time in places with lines meaning no parking - people are parked there. List goes on: people working in the stores pump the meters all day because they have no parking. Where do you start? Move the tent elsewhere. It draws the most problems - they shut the roads down for special events - then there will be plenty of parking.

It might be ok for someone wanting all day parking but if you are just picking up a couple of items on Main Street people are not going to park at the mall and walk.
Also (the) parking problem is just not limited to Lakeside. Come to Keewatin and check out the vehicles with trailers parked for days on end, obstructing intersections, parking on sidewalks.

Keewatin streets are full including arena parking lot where a big sign tells people the cost to park but nobody pays attention too. Why pay downtown when so much is free.

Maybe people will park for long term parking but not just to get a couple things downtown. In the good old days when it was free to park I would park and walk around town but I won't park any where in town where they nickle and dime you.

For our local residents year round. But for the tourists they are still parking for free in Lakeside and making this area unsafe for driving. With them parking on First Avenue you have no room too see what is coming or going. We will let them park for free until a major incident happens. Isn't usually the City works.

Not really. Why pay to park there, when a few meters away is free parking at whatever is left of the mall. It is not in a convenient location, if you need parking near the south end of Main you can park for free at Safeway and walk.
Not only that, it doesn't stop the free loaders from parking for days on end in Lakeside, while out on the lake. Comes back again, to where is Bylaw Enforcement?
